La lumière apporte énergie et présence, déclenche les lumières intérieures des objets et des êtres et illumine leur interaction. Elle crée également des reflets et révèle des choses invisibles, des atmosphères et l'esprit des lieux. Elle agit comme un indicateur de détails, invite le spectateur à s'y attarder, à méditer sur le passage du temps et à voir les choses sous un angle différent.
Sous la surface des choses l’éternité, sous la surface des poses l’humanité. ».
“Born under northern skies but living in the southern light, it is with light in all its aspects that I want to play in my work.
Light brings energy and presence, triggers the inner lights of objects and beings and illuminates their interaction. It also creates reflections and reveals invisible things, atmospheres and the spirit of place. It acts as a pointer to details, invites the viewer to linger over them, musing about the passage of time and seeing things from a different perspective.
Beneath the surface of things lies eternity, beneath the surface of poses lies humanity”.
Né aux Pays-Bas en 1960, je vis et travaille en France depuis 1995. Je partage mon temps entre deux métiers : celui d’avocat et celui de peintre. J’ai suivi la formation classique universitaire pour devenir avocat en propriété intellectuelle, mais pour devenir peintre j’ai appris le métier en travaillant avec des peintres professionnels, en atelier, chemin faisant. Ils et elles m’ont appris ce qu’il fallait pour développer ma propre peinture et mon propre style et ont enrichi ma vie.
Born in the Netherlands in 1960, I have been living and working in France since 1995. I divide my time between two professions: lawyer and painter. I followed the traditional university course to become a intellectual property lawyer, but to become a painter I learned the trade by working with professional painters in their studios, along the way. They taught me what I needed in order to develop my own painting and my own style and have enriched my life.
